Jeffrey S. Cosman
Jeff Cosman serves as a Director, Client Services with Source Capital. (“Source”), which is a multi-disciplinary professional practice that provides Upper Middle Market business growth advisory and investment banking services to Business Owning Families and Family Offices. In this position, Mr. Cosman’s principal responsibilities relate to expanding the base of clients serviced by Source. He is also similarly involved with Source’s subsidiary, Business Growth Alliance, LLC (“BGA”).
Given the highly technical nature of the services offered by Source, Mr. Cosman was carefully selected for this position because he has considerable experience in advising, financing and leading companies to achieve both organic and external business growth to build value for their private owners. He is also experienced in managing liquidity requirements for shareholders in private companies, and on matters related to developing or improving the governance and control processes within privately owned companies.
Mr. Cosman has about 8 years of professional experience in both the financial services industry and in corporate finance. Prior to joining BGA, he was Managing Director/Founder of Market Street Capital, LLC, a growth advisory firm specializing in developing strategies to grow companies through improving their access to the capital markets and their equity/debt capital structures, as well as through mergers and acquisitions. Market Street Capital was the lead advisory firm involved in several billion-dollar LBO opportunities in the solid waste industry.
In addition to his career in finance, Mr. Cosman has extensive experience in marketing and sales for Medical Device start-ups, as well as established medical devices companies. He has proven success and experience with leadership roles in sales. Among his activities, Mr. Cosman also developed daily tools to measure key metrics for a large multi-billion dollar medical device company to improve sales and operating efficiencies.
Mr. Cosman is uniquely experienced in the Solid Waste Industry, as his father was the President/COO of Republic Services and Vice-President of BFI for a combined 30+ years. Mr. Cosman was exposed to understanding businesses from the ground floor (people) up to the Executive offices /Board Room. He was trained in the solid waste industry from the age of fifteen by this “bottoms-up” understanding of companies, and related philosophy for creating work force motivation and loyalty. Some of the key initiatives he was involved with while employed at Republic Services was the integration/combination of over 160+ acquisitions into the parent company, as well as the support of S1 due diligence for its initial public offering in 1998.
Prior to starting his business career, the New York Mets drafted Mr. Cosman in 1993. He spent 4+ years in the minor leagues developing as a pitcher. Injuries in 1995 sidelined him, which later resulted in his retirement in 1997.
Mr. Cosman holds a Bachelors of Accountancy and a B.B.A in Banking & Finance and Managerial Finance from the University of Mississippi. He resides in Sewickley, PA with his wife Rachel and three children Savannah, Bo and Eli.
