The L. E. Smith Company is a third generation family owned business. The Company is built on a reputation of excellence in wholesale distribution of building materials and custom fabrication of surfacing and related products for kitchen and bath applications. L. E. Smith has been steadfast in continuing its commitment to customers, employees, suppliers and its community.

Lawrence Smith founded the Company in 1950. Two of his sons, Steve Smith and Joe Smith, led the business in the second generation, expanding the Company by becoming: (i) a distributor of DuPont Corian and other surfacing materials and, also, (ii) the largest regional fabricator of finished custom laminate countertops in the regional Ohio, Indiana and Michigan market served by the Company.

In 1997, Laura (Smith) Juarez joined the Company, after a successful career as a consultant with Accenture. Ms. Juarez is now the CEO. During the past few years, she has successfully transitioned the management team to the next generation of executives and, as a result of this transaction, has now transitioned the Company to a third generation of family ownership.

Source Capital, Ltd. provided advisory guidance to the Company and Smith Family members on matters relating to the transaction structure and terms, funding the buyout of shares from the second-generation owners, and changes in the Company’s business governance structure and shareholders agreements.

The Company is now positioned for growth in the hands of the “Cousins’ Generation” and Source is assisting the Company with its future growth strategy.
